WPLC: The Struggle Continues at Standing Rock and Beyond

The staff and board at the Water Protector Legal Collective would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters and to share some exciting news! While our current work remains far from over, WPLC is taking steps towards a future beyond Standing Rock – continuing to provide movement legal support in other contexts when our work in North Dakota winds down.

We are currently in the beginning stages of strategic planning and will be engaging with communities across the United States to work together to build our networks and shape our future. We are thrilled to be partnering with the incredible community of Water Protectors and our broad and diverse network of colleagues, allies and supporters across the globe in this unique and necessary work.

As we move into this next phase we would like to keep you up to date with developments and invite you to be a part of the future of our organization. In order for us to do this, please fill out this form with your contact information and let us know the best way to stay in touch with you. Alternatively, please consider making a financial contribution (and you can simply check “yes” to receive updates by email). Your ongoing engagement and support is deeply appreciated and is what makes this work possible.

Meanwhile, WPLC is continuing to provide holistic legal representation and coordination including: criminal defense in state and federal courts, civil litigation to hold police and private security accountable, and international advocacy to advance human rights and indigenous sovereignty. You can find a summary of this work on this sharable and regularly updated brochure. The fight at Standing Rock to protect the water and in opposition to the violent and militarized state response during camp continues today.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch. You are an important part of our community and we cherish your participation.

Sincerely,

Terry L. Janis

Executive Director
